Bat-Erdene Namsrai, MD, MS

Researcher 5

Degrees: Medical Doctor (MD) & Master of Science (MS)

Research Interest: Organ cryopreservation, nanowarming technology, transplantation science, microvascular surgery, and machine perfusion

Dr. Namsrai's research focuses on improving organ preservation and extending viable storage times for transplantation. He works on developing next-generation cryopreservation and nanowarming technologies for kidneys, hearts, livers, skin, and organoids. He also directs the microsurgery core, supporting complex small-surgical models that advance transplant and regenerative medicine research. Through these efforts, he aims to help overcome the critical shortage of transplantable organs.

About Me: I completed my medical degree in Mongolia, followed by surgical residency and organ transplant training in both Mongolia and South Korea. I then worked for one year in the Department of Surgery at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences before joining the University of Minnesota to continue my work in organ preservation and transplantation. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.
